a
Caution!
The solar energy system must be vented during
the initial start-up (and every time the solar
fluid is changed) during the filling time of the
solar system ( factory-set to 9 minutes).
The venting must take place precisely during
the filling mode. We recommend opening the
upper filling valve after 7 minutes.
The solar energy system can be damaged if the
solar system is ventilated at any other time. In
this case, we will accept no liability for the
function of the solar energy system.
• Remove the hose from the upper filling connection.
6.5
Checking the solar heating system for leaks
• With the collector pump running, check whether there
is any solar fluid escaping from the screw couplings
on the solar copper pipe on the roof or at the cylinder
unit.
a
Caution!
Protect the solar connections at the collector
and at the solar cylinder unit from damage by
holding the connections while tightening them.
• Retighten the screw couplings if necessary.
• Cover all exposed solar lines and the compression fit-
tings, including those on the roof, with appropriate in-
sulation material after the leak test. For this, Vaillant
recommends the bird-safe individual pipe insulation
with polyamide protective braid, 2 x 75 cm long (Part
No. 302361), available as an accessory.
6.6
Setting the system parameters on the con-
troller
• Program the timeswitch or the timer programme on
the solar controller (specify the start of the enable
time for cylinder charging).
• Put the boiler into service.
6.7
Setting the DHW thermostatic mixing valve
The hot water from the cylinder can be set to a desired
maximum temperature between 30 °C and 70 °C by
mixing hot and cold water with a DHW thermostatic mix-
ing valve fitted on the consumer side (Accessory Part
Number: 302040).
• Regulate the DHW thermostatic mixing valve so that
the temperature you desire is maintained at the hot
water taps.
d
Danger!
Set the thermostatic mixer to below 60 °C and
check the temperature at a hot water tap to
ensure effective protection against scalding.
6.8
Handing over to the owner
The owner of the auroSTEP plus solar energy system
must be instructed in the handling and function of the
system and in particular its controller. Hand over the
manuals intended for the owner as well as the docu-
ments of the appliance. Go through the operating manu-
al with the owner and answer any questions.
Draw special attention to the safety instructions, which
the owner must follow.
Make the owner aware of the need to keep the manuals
close to the system.
