Safety instructions and regulations
3.1 Safety
instructions
General
The entire solar system must always be installed and
operated in accordance with recognised technical stand-
ards. Make sure you adhere to the valid work protection
regulations, in particular when working on the roof.
Make absolutely sure you wear anti-fall devices whenev-
er there is a risk of falling. (We recommend the Vaillant
safety belt, Part No. 302066.) Observe the accident pre-
vention regulations of the trade associations.
Danger of burning
H
Danger!
There is a risk of combustion on components
carrying solar fluid, such as collectors and solar
lines, as well as on hot water pipes!
These components attain very high
temperatures in solar mode. Only touch these
components if you have already checked the
temperature.
To avoid injuries on hot parts, the assembly and ex-
change of collectors or collector parts should be carried
out on a heavily overcast day. Alternatively this work
can be carried out in the morning or evening of sunny
days or with the collector covered.
Danger of overvoltage
Earth the solar circuit to provide equipotential bonding
and overvoltage protection. Fasten the earthing clamps
to the solar circuit pipes and connect the clamps to an
equipotential rail with 16 mm
2
copper cable.
Leaks
If there is leakage in the hot water pipe between the cyl-
inder and the draw-off point, first close the cold water
shut-off valve on the cylinder. Then rectify the leak.

Installation
The electrical installation must be performed by an ap-
proved qualified servicing company, which is responsible
for adhering to the existing standards and regulations.
We accept no liability for any damage caused by failure
to observe these instructions.
e
Danger!
Risk of fatal electric shock from touching live
connections.
Before working on the appliance, switch off the
power supply and secure it against restart.
We only honour the manufacturer’s warranty if the in-
stallation is performed by an approved qualified servic-
ing company.
e
Danger!
Danger of death by electric shock!
There is a danger of electric shock and of
damage to the appliance if it is not correctly
installed.
Expansion relief valve and blow-off line
The water volume is increased each time the hot water
is heated in the cylinder, therefore each cylinder must
be equipped with an expansion relief valve and a blow-
off line.
