Grounding the bus cabl e shield directly to the AC drive frame using an RC- filter
We r ecom mend you t o do the gr ounding in this manner when the distance between the devices ex-
ceeds 50 meter s (55 yds.). When the distance between the devices is l ong, distur bances (e.g. voltage
spikes) ar e mor e likely to appear . In this gr ounding method, the distur bances ar e filter ed out. Even if
the gr ound planes of A, B and C ar e differ ent (which is ver y typical e.g. in constr uction) ther e is no
cur r ent between them because the points do not have a gr ound connection.
NOTE:
If a pot ential differ ence occur s between the gr ounding point s, equal ization cur r ent can fl ow t hr ough a
shiel d connect ed at bot h ends. In this case, install an addit ional pot ent ial equal ization l ine and set this
jum per X1 in ON posit ion.
