Safety instructions

Intended use
A
• Taking blood pressure measurements on children requires specialist
knowledge. Consult your doctor if you want to measure a child’s blood
pressure. Under no circumstances must the device be used on an in-
fant.
This device is intended for persons over 12 years of age for non-invasive
self-measurement of the systolic and diastolic blood pressure, determin-
ing the pulse rate and calculating the pulse pressure.
This device uses the oscillometric method for measuring blood pressure
and pulse rate.
• During pregnancy and in cases of pre-eclampsia, the device may only
be used after consulting your doctor.
• The results of the automatic blood pressure monitor can be distorted
by cardiac dysrhythmia, e.g. atrial fibrillation, premature ventricular
contraction or arteriosclerosis. Only use the blood measurement de-
vice by yourself if you have discussed this with your doctor first.
• The device may only be used at the wrist and not on any other ex-
tremities.
1. Important patient information
• Do not under any circumstances place the cuff over a critical area, e.g.
a wound, aneurysm, etc. or on an arm with an arteriovenous shunt.
Risk of injury! Any supply via an intravascular access point (infusion)
or other medical monitoring devices could possibly be interrupted.
• Do not use the device without first consulting your doctor if you are
having dialysis treatment or are taking anticoagulants, platelet ag-
gregation inhibitors or steroids. These circumstances may cause in-
ternal bleeding.
• The device is not an instrument for the diagnosis of atrial flutter or
atrial fibrillation. It shows only the possibility of the presence of such
a condition. If the display indicating a cardiac arrhythmia appears (see
page 46), it is essential to discuss this with your doctor.
• The display of the pulse frequency is not suitable for checking the fre-
quency of cardiac pacemakers. Cardiac pacemakers and blood pres-
sure monitors do not influence each other in terms of their mode of
operation.
