1.17 Telematics gateway
Telematics gateway (if equipped) is
a n o n - b o a r d u n i t u s e d f o r d a t a
logging and communication between
the vehicle and truck server. The
telematics gateway will transfer the
information to support the vehicle
r e l a t e d s e r v i c e s . To e n a b l e t h e
communication to the truck server
TGW services must be activated.
The system consists of:
1 Sim card
2. Telematics gateway unit

Antennas (GSM and GPS)
GSM-communication

integrated GSM module for the data
c o m m u n i c a t i o n t o a n d f r o m t h e
vehicle. The control unit has a slot
for a SIM-card. The GSM antenna is
placed on the truck roof (combined
GSM/GPS-antenna).
GPS Satellite positioning

Telematics gateway can determine
the geographic position of the vehicle
through GPS-positioning. The GPS
unit calculates the position with the
help of signals from at least three
satellites. The accuracy of calculation
increases as the number of satellites
the GPS unit is in contact with the
vehicle’s system. The GPS antenna
is placed on the truck roof (combined
GSM/GPS-antenna).
NOTE
Do not place any metal objects
over the antenna on the roof.
