TROOPER : Negative Pressure System
5.0 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
CAUTION: MANY OF THE PROCEDURES IN THIS SECTION
REQUIRE ACCESSING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THIS
SHOULD ONLY BE DONE BY QUALIFIED PERSONS WHO ARE
FAMILIAR WITH PROPER ELECTRICAL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
A.
UNIT WILL NOT START - POWER LIGHT OFF - PRESSURE
LIGHTS
OFF
A.
Check all power connections. Check the power cord for breaks.
B.
Check the motor starter overload. See appendices: ‘Wiring diagram’
and ‘changing voltage’ (on page 25) for location and procedure.
C.
On three phase units, if you have installed a new cord of plug, you
must be sure that the phasing is correct. See section 2.2 on page 9
for checking the phase monitor.
D.
On three phases units, check the transformer fuse. A blown fuse
indicates an electrical fault in the control circuitry of the TROOPER.
All components should be thoroughly checked before restarting.
E.
On three phase units, in very rare cases, the transformer itself may
be bad. This can be checked by reading secondary coil output
voltage.
F.
On models TR400 and TR500, check the motor starter overload
(see appendix for wiring diagram). Because these models do not
require the added protection of a high pressure switch, they do
not use an indicator light for excessive drain pressure. For these
models if the drain pressure is too high the motor starter overload
will trip after the unit has run for a few seconds. No indicator will
light. check the overload and follow the checks listed under “Drain
pressure too high’.
5.2 UNIT WILL NOT START - POWER LIGHT ON - PRESSURE
LIGHTS
OFF
A.
If the power light is on, and both pressure lights off, and the unit
is not running, then the motor starter coil may be defective. When
the power is on, the center bar of the motor starter contactor will be
drawn in. If it remains extended, the coil must be replaced.
5.3 UNIT SHUT ON AND OFF - PRESSURE LIGHTS ON
A.
Note: gauges used on the TROOPER have internal “dampeners”
