Accessories, Loading and Passengers
Warning
Do not carry a passenger unless he or she
is tall enough to reach the footrests
provided.
A passenger who is not tall enough to
reach the footrests will be unable to sit
securely on the motorcycle and may cause
instability leading to loss of control and an
accident.
Warning
Never ride an accessory equipped
motorcycle, or a motorcycle carrying a
payload of any kind, at speeds above
80 mph (130 km/h). In either/both of
these conditions, speeds in excess of
80 mph (130 km/h) should not be
attempted even where the legal speed
limit permits this.
The presence of accessories and/or
payload will cause changes in the stability
and handling of the motorcycle.
Failure to allow for changes in motorcycle
stability may lead to loss of control or an
accident.
Remember that the 80 mph (130 km/h)
absolute limit will be reduced by the fitting
of non-approved accessories, incorrect
loading, worn tyres, overall motorcycle
condition and poor road or weather
conditions.
Warning
If the passenger seat is used to carry small
objects, they must not exceed 5 kg in
weight, must not impair control of the
motorcycle, must be securely attached and
must not extend beyond the rear or sides
of the motorcycle.
Carriage of objects in excess of 5 kg in
weight, that are insecure, impair control or
extend beyond the rear or sides of the
motorcycle may lead to loss of motorcycle
control and an accident.
Even if small objects are correctly loaded
onto the rear seat, the maximum speed of
the motorcycle must be reduced to
80 mph (130 km/h).
