ACCESSORIES AND LOADING
The addition of accessories and carriage of additional weight can affect the
motorcycle's handling characteristics causing changes in stability and
necessitating a reduction in speed. The following information has been
prepared as a guide to the potential hazards of adding accessories to a
motorcycle and carrying passengers and additional loads.
Warning
Incorrect loading may result in an
unsafe riding condition leading to
an accident.
Always ensure any loads carried
are evenly distributed on both sides
of the motorcycle. Ensure that the
load is correctly secured such that
it will not move around while the
motorcycle is in motion.
Always check the load security
regularly (though not while the
motorcycle is in motion) and ensure
that the load does not extend
beyond the rear of the motorcycle.
Never exceed the maximum
vehicle loading weight of 235 kg.
This maximum loading weight is
made up from the combined weight
of the rider, passenger, any
accessories fitted and any load
carried.
Warning
Do not install accessories or carry
luggage that impairs the control of
the motorcycle. Make sure that
you have not adversely affected
any lighting component, road
clearance, banking capability (i.e.
lean angle), control operation,
wheel travel, front fork movement,
visibility in any direction, or any
other aspect of the motorcycle's
operation.
