Intended Use
Mains-powered bench-mounted or portable power tool for cutting through wood and other
materials. Straight, bevel, mitre and compound (mitre+bevel) cuts. The included saw blade is
suitable for natural wood and artificial composite wood materials.
Note:
For non-commercial use only.
Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all its features
and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing
or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING:
Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or
changing accessories, or making any adjustments.
Note:
Cutter/cutting head is a description of the section of the tool incorporating the motor,
blade assembly and pivoting arm. On a sliding mitre saw it is the section that traverses the
pole arm or arms.
Unlatching & raising the cutting head
WARNING:
ALWAYS ensure the tool is unplugged from the power socket and the blade
has come to a complete stop before latching the cutting head down, carrying the tool, and/or
unlatching the cutting head.
To unlatch & raise the cutting head:
1. Press down on the Operating Handle (1) (Image A) and pull out the Cutting Head Latching
Pin (9) (Image B)
2. Slowly raise the saw’s cutting head (Image C)
To lower & latch the cutting head:
1. From the raised position, press the Operating Handle (1) and cutting head down slowly
(Image A) then press in the Cutting Head Latching Pin (9)(Image D)
Bench mounting
IMPORTANT:
It is recommended to mount the saw to a bench or board. Although the saw can
be used without mounting to a bench or board, there is a greater safety risk during use.
• Mount the saw to a level, horizontal bench or work table using bolts, washers and locking
nuts (not supplied) through the Front Bench Mount Holes (22) and Rear Bench Mount
Holes (14)
• DO NOT over-tighten; this may damage the base
• Do not use bolts that are not a good fit for the Bench Mount Holes; this may encourage
unwanted movement
• Alternatively, mount the saw on 13mm or thicker board, and clamp the board to a work
support (Fig. I); this makes it easy to relocate the saw, clamping it to a work support
wherever needed
• When using a board it may be necessary to countersink the washers and nuts so the board
is level on the surface
• Always stabilise the front of the saw by turning and lowering the Front Stabiliser Knob (45);
do this after the mitre angle is selected
WARNING:
Ensure the mounting surface is not warped; an uneven surface can cause
binding and inaccurate sawing.
Adjusting the fence
• Ensure the Fence (17) is used with every cut
• Ensure the hex screws are tight so the Fence does not move (see ‘Mitre angle 90°
adjustment’ in ‘Maintenance’ for setting true 0°)
• The Upper Fence (18) can be adjusted and extended out or removed entirely by simply
loosening the Upper Fence Locking Knob (16) and sliding the Upper Fence into position
Note:
The Upper Fence Locking Knobs are spring loaded and can be pulled out, rotated then
retracted to optimise leverage of the fence locking bolt inside the knob.
• If performing a bevel cut, the Upper Fence may need to be removed so it does not obstruct
the movement of the cutting head when tilted
• NEVER use the mitre saw without the regular Fence
Adjusting the workpiece supports
• Loosen the Workpiece Support Knobs (21) and pull the Workpiece Supports (20) out to the
desired length then retighten the knobs
• The Support Rail E-Clips (55) can be inserted into the notches for a pre-set rail length
(Image Z) for the Workpiece Supports
• The Workpiece Support Stops (19) can be folded out to provide an edge stop
Fitting the Workpiece Clamp
• The Workpiece Clamp (47) has an adjustable height knob and two bar holes to choose from
• Determine which hole to insert the bar through then use the knob to set the height
• Insert the bar into the Workpiece Clamp Holder (31) then turn the clamp to secure a
workpiece to the Mitre Table (23) (Image E)
• Ensure the bar on the Workpiece Clamp is fully inserted into the holder so that the end of
the bar is touching the bottom of the holder
