TESTING AND USING THE DETECTOR

The model TC-1018 metal detector has three operation modes: ALL METAL,

DISC and PINPOINT. ALL METAL is used to find all kinds of metal targets.

DISC is used to discriminate the metal type. PINPOINT is used to locate the

target accurately.

First, set the operation mode to ALL METAL, DISC to counter clockwise end,

SENS to high position. Then hold the search coil parallel with the ground

about ½ inch to 1 ½ inches above the surface. Sweep the search coil from

side to side in an arc line in a 2-3 inch motion.

When the detector detects a buried target, it sounds a tone. You can then

make a visual note of exact spot on the ground where the detector beeps.

Then stop the search coil directly over this point on the ground. Move the

search coil straight forward away from you and straight back towards you a

couple of times.

In ALL METAL mode, when you find metal object, you can also press

PINPOINT to locate the target. Hold the search coil 50cm or more away from

the ground. Press and hold down this button. Sweep the search coil over the

sound area and release the button when you hear a sound. After about 1~2

seconds, hold down the red button again, the sound disappears. Closer the

search coil to the ground and you’ll hear the

sound again. Repeat the above

steps until you find the target. After you find the target, set mode to DISC to
