Two pieces of the larger kindling are to be placed on the bottom of the stove to elevate the first
row of kindling.
The first layer is to be all smaller pieces then a mix of smaller and larger on top of that focusing
the smaller pieces in the middle of the load. There should be five to six layers of kindling in
total.
The Start-up Fuel is to go on top.
It’s best if the top layer is parallel to the air tubes on top
as
shown. There should be two layers of start-up in total.
Kindling and start-up:
Open the by-pass and use a torch for one minute to ignite the fuel, focusing the torch in the
middle of the fuel for the one-minute duration. After one minute, close the by-pass and take
the torch away leaving the door cracked until 2-3 minutes in total time have elapsed. The time
will be based on how involved the fire is. The door should be closed when the catalyst
temperature is above 170° Fahrenheit.
The fan is set to high and is on an automatic heat switch and will turn on when the stove
temperature achieves it.
The test load should be loaded at the bottom end of the allowable coal bed within 0.2lbs.
When loading, place the longer two pieces on the bottom east/west and the remaining three
north/south. Use one of the bottom pieces to gently level the remaining fuel. Make sure the
