For user-friendly technology that adds ease
and finesse to the art of driving, RAV4
clearly leads the way.
A Smart Entry and start System* puts an end to
having to search for your keys and allows you to
unlock the doors by simply touching the handle
and start the car by simply pressing the start
button. Journeys are less tiring too, thanks to
cruise control* which takes the strain off using
the accelerator, adjusting throttle opening to
maintain your pre-set speed for as long as you
want.
When the weather’s against you, a rain sensor*
instantly sets appropriate wiper speed and intervals
the moment it starts to rain, while a dusk sensor*
automatically switches on the headlights in
twilight conditions to help you see better. RAV4 is
more than prepared for night driving too, with an
electro- chromatic rear-view mirror* that reduces
intense headlight glare from cars behind you,
darkening the mirror’s surface accordingly so that
you’re not dazzled.
Inside the vehicle, a clever full map satellite
navigation system* with voice recognition
technology means journey planning couldn’t
be more straightforward. And, if you do happen
to take a wrong turn, the relative positions of
city centre landmarks are displayed using 3-D
graphics, enabling you to easily re-orientate
yourself.
The navigation system incorporates
Bluetooth
®
technology*, giving you hands-free
communications via a compatible mobile phone
and without the need for any cables or other
connections.
RAV4 is also equipped with a high quality radio/CD
player system as standard. This has the added
advantage of playing MP3 and WMA formats,
which can store more than 10 hours of music on a
single CD, keeping you entertained for longer and
removing the need to constantly keep changing
the disc.

1. Navigation system

A touch-screen, 6.5-inch LCD monitor displays 32,000-colour fine
resolution maps, indicates exit lanes as you approach them,
and tells you your estimated time of arrival and time left to a
destination. A voice recognition function means you can program
the computer to find any address by just saying it aloud.

Hands-free communications are accessed via a call switch on
the steering wheel. The Bluetooth

system also comes with voice
recognition, a 1,000 number address book (transferable from
your Bluetooth
®
compatible mobile phone), one-touch dialling,
easy call up of the last 5 calls made and received – as well as a
database of useful facilities and services.
3. Rain sensor

A rain-sensing wiper system ensures maximum visibility by
utilising a sensor installed in the windscreen. The sensor detects
precipitation and sets the optimum wiper speed and intervals
based on the amount of rainfall occurring as well as the relative
speed of the vehicle.

There’s no need to go through the usual motions with a manual
key. Simply depress the clutch and brake pedal and press the
button – and the engine will start automatically. (With automatic
transmission, you only need to depress the brake pedal.)
