Advanced common-rail diesel technology
calculates exact pressure, timing and volume as
you drive, injecting finely atomised fuel at high
pressure into the combustion chamber and giving

RAV4’s enticing petrol option is a dynamic
2.0 litre VVT-i engine, offering 152 DIN hp
and all the controlled, rapid power you
could ask for.
The VVT-i engine (Variable Valve Timing with
Intelligence) uses advanced computer technology
to vary the air intake according to driving
conditions, creating high torque
(194 Nm/4000 rpm) and comes with a choice of
two transmissions.
The first is an extra smooth 5-speed manual,
delivering the appealing acceleration figure of
0–62 mph in only 10.6 seconds, ensuring a quick
start to however you spend your leisure time – as
well as a top speed of 115 mph*.
Alternatively, a 4-speed automatic allows for
even more ease of driving, with an acceleration
figure of 0–62 mph in 12 seconds and a top
speed of 109 mph*. The transmission has been
specially developed using Toyota’s most advanced
technologies to ensure seamless, extra-responsive
gear shifting and lower fuel consumption.
Whichever one you choose, Toyota’s advanced
VVT-i technology not only assures you all the
engine performance you need, but remarkable
fuel economy in the process (32.8 mpg with the
