Remove the screw securing the intake fan module in place, then slide the module
from the chassis.

Reinstall the access panel, reconnect all signal and power cables, then turn on the
server. For instructions, read Steps 6 through 9 in
Maintenance overview
on page
50.
Installing an intake fan

If the server is in operation, shut it down. Then remove the access panel. For
detailed instructions, read Steps 1 through 4 in
Maintenance overview
on page 50.

If installing a redundant fan, remove the screw securing the cover plate to the fan
bay, then remove the cover plate (there is no cover plate when installing a
replacement fan).

Position the intake fan module in the fan bay and replace the screw to hold it in
position.
Installing a cooling fan while the server is on could result in electric shock and
shorten the service life of both the fan and the server.
