1. Ensure that the paper door is in the closed position, with its top cover removed.
2. Slide the main cover down over the unit until the main cover release tab snaps
into place.
Note:
You might have to rock the main cover back and forth slightly to get it
onto the unit.
Removing the paper-out sensor
Attention:
Printer should be powered off. The following ESD handling procedure
is recommended: You should touch the metal on the printer frame with the back of
your hand before allowing the printhead to make contact with the printer. Also, see
“Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 51.
Follow these steps to remove the paper-out sensor:
1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power and signal cables from the rear of
the printer.
2. Press the paper door release button to open the paper door (see Figure 15 on
page 53 for the location of the paper door release button).
3. Pull gently on the top of the paper-out sensor to pivot it open.

4. Disconnect the cable that connects the paper-out sensor to the logic card.
5. Pull the paper-out sensor tab until the pivot point is removed from its hole; then,
rotate the paper-out sensor up and out of the printer.
Attention:
When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to avoid
damage from static electricity. For details about handling these devices, see
“Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 51.
