Note:

To use the electric starter (electric-start

models only), connect a power cord to the
plug-in first and then to a power outlet. Use
only a UL-listed, 16-gauge extension cord
recommended for outdoor use that is not longer
than 50 ft (15 m).

WARNING

The electrical cord can become damaged,
causing a shock or fire.

Thoroughly inspect the electrical cord
before using the machine. If the cord
is damaged, do not use it. Replace or
repair the damaged cord immediately.
Contact an Authorized Service Dealer for
assistance.

Important:

To prevent damaging the electric

starter, run it in short cycles (5 seconds on,

5 seconds off), no more than 10 times. If the
engine still does not start, take the machine
to an Authorized Service Dealer for service.

8.

Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet
first and then from the machine (electric-start
models only).

9.

Allow the engine to warm up; gradually move
the choke toward the R

UN

position. Wait for

the engine to run smoothly before each choke
adjustment.

CAUTION

If you leave the machine plugged into a
power outlet, someone can inadvertently
start the machine and injure people or
damage property.

Unplug the power cord whenever you are
not starting the machine.

Shutting Off the Engine

1.

Move the throttle to the S

LOW

position, and then

to the S

TOP

position (

Figure 22

). You can also

shut off the engine by pulling the ignition key
outward to the middle position.

2.

Wait for all moving parts to stop before leaving
the operating position.

3.

Remove the ignition key to prevent accidental

Close the fuel-shutoff valve by rotating it
clockwise (
