Special safety precautions for saws with oscillating internal guard
• Always check that the lower guard closes properly before use. Do not operate the saw if the lower guard
does not move freely and does not close again instantly. Never lock or clamp the lower guard in the open
position. If the saw falls accidentally, the lower guard can bend. Open the guard with the retracting lever
and ensure that it can move freely and that it does not touch the saw blade or other parts at any cutting
angle or depth.
• Check the operation of the lower guard spring. If the guard or the spring are not working correctly, they
must be fixed before use. Due to damaged parts, sticky deposits or sawdust accumulation, movement of
the lower guard can become obstructed.
• The lower guard should only be retracted manually for special cuts, such as plunging cuts or angle cuts.
Open the guard with the retracting lever. As soon as the saw blade cuts into the material, the guard must
be released again. For all other sawing work, the lower guard must work automatically.
• Always check that the lower guard is covering the saw blade before resting the saw on the bench or the
floor. An unprotected saw blade, in rotation by inertia, could cause the saw to move backwards, cutting
everything it finds in its path. Observe the necessary time for the saw blade to stop after releasing the
switch.
