6. Commissioning
WARNING!
Danger to life from fire and / or explosion! Improper use of the device also poses danger to life!
Therefore, observe the following safety notes:
• Only operate the device outdoors.
• The "air intake openings" (7) must not be clogged or covered.
• For this, observe that the air exit openings at the "conical nozzle" (11) are not clogged and that the
"conical nozzle" is not twisted and thus impairing the hot air flow.
• Never point the hot-air flow at the connection cable or flammable or explosive substances.
• Observe the safety information in these operating instructions.
a) General notes on weed removal
The product is particularly suitable for removing weeds. The product is used most effectively on plants with a high
juice content. The best time for treating wild growth is therefore in spring. The effect is more effective the younger the
wild growth is. The measure's success is not visible immediately, however. A longer application time can also burn off
the visible part of the plant.
Sensitivity of the plant to heat radiation does not become evident at once at the recommended application duration.
Generally, soft-leaved seedlings react most sensitively, i.e. they are no longer viable after the first treatment.
Older plants with hard leaves, such as thistles, will dry out at the earliest after several treatments at intervals of one to
two weeks. Hard-leaved grasses are extraordinarily robust and require a longer application of heat.
In the early phase, treatment of areas with wild growth must be repeated several times at short intervals. Permanent
success will only follow after this. Later, treatment intervals can be extended. The weeds only need to be heated.
Burning them is not necessary. The leaf cells thus dry out and the weeds die. Specific weed types require repeated
treatment.
b) Commissioning of the device
• Install the handle (5) to the guide tube (see figure) and position it as is comfortable for you.
• Shorten the guide tube to a length that is comfortable for you. For this, open the knurled nut (6) by turning it
clockwise. When you have set the right length, fasten this position by tightening the knurled nut (6) counter-
clockwise.
• Connect the connection cable of the product (2) to a suitable extension cord. The extension cord is not part of the
delivery and must be ordered separately.
• Plug the extension cord into a proper protective-ground mains socket of the public mains.
• For removing the weeds, apply the "conical nozzle" (11) to match the plant type to the plant to be treated and push
the on/off switch (4) for approx. 5-10 seconds. The heating element and a ventilation motor are now activated
and the plant is heated. For taller plants, first only heat the upper part of the plant briefly and then put the "conical
nozzle" (11) to the shrunk plant for approx. 5-10 seconds.
