INSTALLATION
HEAT
PUMP ACCESSORIES
• Manual
• LCD controller with 5m cable;
• Thermistor (tank temp sensor) with 5m cable
• 4 x Rubber floor feet
• Waterproof controller box
• 4 x M8*60 stainless steel nut and bolt set
• Condensate drain hose (21mm x 1.2m) & connector
• 2 x Plastic expansion wall plugs;
• 2 x PG19 cable gland;
WATER
TANK
1. Only connect the heat pump to water tanks with a
watermarked heat exchanger (like the Tivok 420L
energy bank) for potable hot water. However the heat
pump can be used to directly heat hydronic space
heating water.
2. The Tivok 420L energy bank is a vented tank with an
automatic refill float valve, please refer to Tivok Split
System Manual.
3. The water tank should be installed where ambient
temperature is highest to minimise heat-loss.
4. If the unit is installed on a balcony or on a rooftop, the
installation location must meet the allowable bearing
capacity of building structure. Structural approval
maybe required, seek local council advise.
5. It is suggested to install the heat pump (with integral
circulation pump) and the water tank at the same
level. If offset installation is required, keep the heat
pump base at least 800mm below the top of the
Tivok tank (or circulation pump at least 500mm
below the tank water level). The heat pump should
also be no lower than 2m from the tank. This is to
maintain a pump suction head of min 700mm.
Meeting these requirements, two T-HP72AB heat
pumps can be stacked on top of each other with
appropriate support.
6. Do not install the water tank in a polluted or corrosive
environment.
7. If installed indoors then a drip tray or alike should
also be installed for both the heat pump and tank
to capture any potential water leaks. The drip tray
should be kept dry during normal operation to avoid
galvanic corrosion and contaminant evaporation into
heat pump air inlet causing heat pump failure.
WATER
PIPING
All piping is to be installed by a licensed plumber.
1. Please refer to Tivok Split System manual and
drawings for detailed installation instructions for
Tivok Heat Pump and Tivok 420L Energy Bank (tank).
2. It is recommended to use copper pipe. All hot piping
is to be insulated (after leak testing) and thermal
expansion should be considered.
3. Minimise pipe turns to reduce water resistance
4. The tank coil connection to domestic water mains
pressure should be between 0.3MPa and 0.8MPa.
5. The heat pump drain hose (connected to the bottom
of the heat pump) and tank overflow pipe should
be directed to a suitable storm water or sewerage
drainage point. The Tivok 420L Tank overflow
shouldn’t have any isolation valve installed to avoid
over-pressurising vented tank.
