Bead separation
— Th is is the breakdown of the bond between components in the bead.
Bias ply tire —A pneumatic tire in which the ply cords that extend to the beads are laid at alternate
angles substantially less than 90 degrees to the centerline of the tread.
Carcass
— Th e tire structure, except tread and sidewall rubber which, when in fl ated, bears the load.
Chunking — Th e breaking away of pieces of the tread or sidewall.
Cold in fl ation pressure — Th e pressure in the tire before you drive.
Cord
— Th e strands forming the plies in the tire.
Cord separation
— Th e parting of cords from adjacent rubber compounds.
Cracking
—Any parting within the tread, sidewall, or inner liner of the tire extending to cord mate-
rial.
CT
—A pneumatic tire with an inverted fl ange tire and rim system in which the rim is designed with
rim fl anges pointed radially inward and the tire is designed to fi t on the underside of the rim in a
manner that encloses the rim fl anges inside the air cavity of the tire.
Curb weight — Th e weight of a motor vehicle with standard equipment including the maximum ca-
pacity of fuel, oil, and coolant, and, if so equipped, air conditioning and additional weight optional
engine.
Extra load tire
—A tire designed to operate at higher loads and at higher in fl ation pressures than the
corresponding standard tire.
Groove — Th e space between two adjacent tread ribs.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
— Th e maximum permissible weight of this fully loaded
motorhome.
Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) — Th e value speci fi ed as the load carrying capacity of a single
axle system, as measured at the tire-ground interfaces.
Hitch Weight — Th e vertical trailer load supported by the hitch ball.
Innerliner separation — Th e parting of the innerliner from cord material in the carcass.

— Th e sidewall that contains a white-wall, bears white lettering or bears
