Sockets
AV1 SCART socket (input-output) at
the back
This socket can be used to connect a range of
equipment, including video recorders, camcorders
(VHS, S-VHS or 8-mm), decoders, satellite receivers,
DVD players, games consoles or appliances producing
an RGB signal.
Audio and video RCA sockets (input)
at the front or side
These can mainly be used to connect camcorders
(VHS or 8-mm format). Select the relevant AV
programme (AV1, AV2, or AV3).
S-video socket (
) and audio RCA
sockets (input) at the front or side
These can mainly be used to connect camcorders
(S-VHS or Hi 8 format). Select the relevant AV
programme (AV2S or AV3S).
Note: The names of sockets may vary according to the
TV/DVD model.
USB socket (input) at the side
This can be used to connect a memory card reader
for cards containing mp3,WMA, JPEG, MPEG4,
and/or DivX files.The following USB 1.1 and USB 2.0
Mass Storage Class devices are recognised as
compatible:
- flash memory card readers
- USB flash memory sticks
- mp3 players with flash memory
- mp3 players with hard disc, with their own power
supply
- most digital cameras
- some mobile telephones
- hard disc drives with their own power supply,
supporting FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32 file systems.
NTFS systems are not supported.
To display images using the appliance connected, use
the
AV
button on the remote control. For some
appliances (connected to the SCART sockets), this
selection is made automatically. If the appliance is
connected to the S-video socket, select the relevant
AV2S or AV3S programme.
Audio RCA sockets (output) at the
back
These can be used to connect a stereo amplifier, a hi-
fi system or amplified speakers.
Connect the left speaker to RCA socket L and the
right speaker to RCA socket R.
To connect an amplifier, you should connect the
TV/DVD’s left RCA L and right RCA R sockets to
the amplifier’s L and R inputs.
Headphone socket
Use the relevant socket on the front of the TV/DVD
to connect headphones or stereo earphones.The
sound from the speakers is then cut off.
Use the
+/-
buttons to adjust the volume.
Digital audio socket (output)
This socket can be used to connect a Dolby Digital
or DTS amplifier/decoder. Select the appropriate
sound type from the DVD
Sound menu (see page
28).
The digital audio (optical) output socket for this
TV/DVD fully complies with the international
standard governing this type of jack (IEC 958).It is
designed exclusively for connection to a Dolby
Digital or DTS audio receiver or suitable decoder.
Important:
Do not use Digital Audio Output sockets to connect
to equipment other than a Dolby Digital or DTS
receiver or a suitable decoder.This type of
connection can generate a high level of noise that
could damage your hearing, as well as headphones or
speakers.
Old digital equipment (some of which is not totally
compatible with standard IEC 958) may cause this
problem.To prevent this, select the
Digital output
function from the
Sound menu and choose the
suitable option for converting Dolby Digital or DTS
format to linear PCM.
