The HOPG monochromator has more signal (3 to 5 times the Germanium) but is not capable
of
separating Kα1 and Kα2. Moreover, due
to
the imperfection of the crystal structure of the HOPG,
the beam divergence is higher than the Germanium (1° for HOPG, 0.007° for Ge), resulting in
broader diffraction peaks.
These two kinds of flat monochromator share the same interests, they are very simple to adjust,
are extremely strong and work for all X-Ray radiations. Resulting in no maintenance and only
few realignments.
SERVICE!
In service mode, appropriate tools are used by the qualified personnel. Sensor (6)
allows to detect the service tooling.
Only the field service engineer is allowed to adjust the monochromator (3) and
perform the beam centering procedure, dismount the CPS detector and the X -Ray
source and its components: slits (4), monochromator housing (3), shutter (2) and the
tubeshield.
