3. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
3.3 POWER SUPPLY
The supply may be any voltage between 10.5 Vdc and 32 Vdc. Up to
36 Vdc may be applied for a short periods of time, without damaging
the printer.
The Printer has a power saving mode.
This “sleep mode” is coming active after 15 minutes without pressing
a key, unless the ignition input is powered.
In power saving mode the Printer may wake up to enable periodical data
transfer from the attached datalogger, but:
– does not allow printing;
– does not show anything on the LCD display.
In case a USB flash drive is connected to the Printer, the “sleep mode”
will be delayed until the usage of the USB serial connection is complete.
In other words, the Printer will not enter the “sleep mode” if a USB flash
drive is connected.
In power saving mode the consumption of the Printer is under 10 mA
(to allow for use of 50 Ah in 4 months).
The Printer goes back to the normal mode when pressing any Touch key,
for a period of 15 minutes.
3.4 COMMUNICATION INTERFACES
3.4.1 USB PORT
A USB On the Go interface is present on the front panel of the product.
The USB Host is an embedded USB stack supporting USB MSC (Mass
Storage Class) class. Integrated with file System, it allows the Printer
application to create, save and read files in standard storage devices and
Windows compatible FAT32. The USB port has a two fold function:
1. To send data in an electronic format to a Flash memory stick.
User can select to receive a “soft version” of the trip/delivery tickets,
in either a text file (txt format) or in a portable document format (pdf)
file. The format is selectable in the USER menu.
Use cases:
– the TouchPrint allows via the USER menu to choose where to
deliver the data to paper ticket or USB flash drive;
– Journey or delivery tickets could be “printed” in tabular view in
the USB flash drive;
– the header and the content of the file hosts the same information and
in the same format as if printed on a paper;
– when sending the data to the USB flash drive, the display shows
a clear indication;
