3.2.6 Initial measurement

First, the desired depth must have been reached at least at one
point. After selecting working version 1 or 2 (see Section 3.2.2 or
3.2.3) the excavator shovel must be aligned accordingly and low-
ered to the desired depth. To increase accuracy, the TBE-12N
should be positioned vertically as much as possible and the toler-
ance set to
±
2 mm during initial measurement (Figure 1).
Now adjust the height of the laser (preferably using a crank-up tri-
pod) until the laser beam hits the “centre” of the TBE-12N. This
completes initial measurement, and the receiver is operational. The
tolerance can now be set to the desired level.
Note:
When the slope compensation is enabled, the centre does not lie
exactly in the middle of the receiver as in normal / grading work but
slightly lower to enlarge the compensation range.
