User Manual
Application/Adjustment
Size Selection
The Three-Point Hyperextension Back Brace
by Teufel is available in six sizes. You only
need to measure your patient‘s hip circum-
ference to be able to select the right size.
Fitting the Orthosis
Width Adjustment/
Waist Circumference:
• Set the orthosis to the required waist
circumference by means of the two
lateral knurled nuts (fig.1).
• The sternal panel should end just below
the clavicles (collarbones), the pubic bone
panel should be positioned on top of the
pubic bone.
Adjusting the Panel Pressure:
• The stiff panel rods make it possible
to exactly determine the position of
the panels.
• The back panel and the pubic bone
panel should form a unity which the
patient can feel as the panels lie
against his body.
• The thoracic panel should be adjusted
so the patient does not feel any
pressure when actively straightening
up. The panel does not have to touch
the patient‘s sternum when the
patient is standing erect; a distance of
about half an inch between sternum
and sternal panel is ideal.
Adjusting the Contact Area
of the Panels:
• The adjustable aluminum core and
the new, even softer padding make for
great wearing comfort.
• Unlike flexible braces the three-point hy-
perextension back brace does not excert
permanent pressure on the sternal panel.
• At the beginning of the fitting, the
brace should loosely fit around the
patient´s torso without sliding down.
Positioning the Anterior Panel:
• To adjust the height of the anterior
panel rods, loosen the four Phillips
screws on the abdominal panel without
removing the screws completely (fig.2).
• The lenght of the panel can now be ad-
justed as desired, by pushing or pulling
the rods to the required length.
