５．４ About gland packing
（１）
Adjust the leakage of gland packing as below.
Avoid to adjust it in the beginning of driving a pump. But loosen the nut of packing
if gland packing housing is unusual heat, or be to few amount of leakage.
After driving a pump for 30 minutes, if the leakage amount is too much, fasten the
packing nut slowly as watching the generation of hear. Do not uneven tightening the
packing nut.

In different condition, the amount of leakage may become less or more than the
standard showed above.

Leakage quantity becomes more and more. Re-tightening the packing if the leakage is
twice of the list showed above.

Exchange a new one if it won’t be fasten anymore after retorquing.

Make sure gland packing has been inserted deeply one by one. Do not overlap the gland
packing cut end in the same position. Change the cut end every 90°～120°when insert
gland packing.
（５）
Gland packing is consumables. According to the quality of circulating water, the
existence of a foreign substance, pressure, etc., the useable period is changeable.

Uneven tightening or over fasten the gland packing may cause unusual heat
at shaft seal. Be careful as it may damage the shaft and gland packing.
