Chapter 7 Troubleshooting Guide
Problem
Suggested Action
AC POWER
Unit will not turn "ON"
* Check AC power cord is properly connected.
* Check for adequate supply voltage from mains.
* Check fuses in AC power input module, replace if blown.
* Cycle the power switch OFF for 10 seconds and then back ON.
SYSTEM SETUP
TX MicroTip will not Prime
* Check that tip protector is securely fastened during priming.
* Check TX MicroTip and tubing for fluid leaks and proper connection.
* Verify cartridge is properly installed and securely locked into place.
* Make sure pressure cuff maintains pressure.
* Make sure coagulation feature is OFF.
* Perform manual priming as follows:
1. Cycle the power switch on the rear of the Console OFF and then
back ON.
2. Select irrigation ON, aspiration HIGH, and cutting power OFF.
3. Make sure coagulation feature is OFF.
4. Depress the foot pedal until the Inflation Cuff is tight around the
irrigation bag and the needle cap is filled with irrigation fluid.
5. Select cutting power LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH and depress the Foot
pedal to test ultrasonic power.
IRRIGATION SYSTEM
No Irrigation
* Check Irrigation parameter setting is selected ON.
* Depress foot pedal and listen for irrigation pinch valve operation (click).
* Check tubing is properly connected.
* Check the Inflation Cuff Air Tubing is properly connected to the Console
receptacle.
* Check tubing is not kinked or damaged.
* Depress foot pedal and listen for air pump operation.
* Depress foot Pedal and check that air is coming out of Console.
ASPIRATION SYSTEM
No or Poor Aspiration

* Check Aspiration parameter setting is LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH.
* Parameter setting is too low. Increase to higher aspiration setting.
* Check cartridge is properly installed.
* Check tubing is not kinked or damaged.
* Check for blocks in TX MicroTip, or tubing.
CUTTING
No or Poor Cutting Power
* Check the TX MicroTip connection. Ensure that the electrical connector is
properly inserted into the Console CUT receptacle.
* Parameter setting is too low. Increase to higher cutting power setting.
* Check for damaged TX MicroTip.
* Faulty TX MicroTip. Replace TX MicroTip.
TOUCHSCREEN
Malfunctioning or
Unresponsive
* Close the screen to the horizontal position. Reopen. Turn the system ON.
* Verify there is no visible moisture or debris on the touchscreen. If needed,
clean the touchscreen with a very small amount of 70% IPA applied to a soft
cloth.
