Appendix 1: About the SLSS
SLSS Models
The M-395-A-02 has four ports and the M-396-A-02 has eight ports. With the
exception of the number of ports and their transfer codes, the models are identical.
The M-395-B/M-396-B are similar to the A-02 models except that an Auxiliary
Relay and operational control for the Auxiliary Relay are included. The
M-395/M-396-D, and E are similar to the B-01 units, except they use AC voltage.
Dimensions and Shipping Weight
Each SLSS is enclosed in a housing 2.37" high by 12.00" wide by 11.80" deep. The
shipping weight for each of the SLSS models is approximately 8 lb..
Fuse
The SLSS is protected by a 1.5 amp, Slo-blo 3 AG, 250 V external fuse. You can
remove this fuse to turn off the SLSS.
Connectors
Power screw terminals, alarm screw terminals, and line jacks are located on the
rear panel. The requirements for each are listed below:
For the “A” and “B” models, power/status: the Nominal 42-150 VDC 600 mA
maximum input power connects to the screw terminals marked positive (+) and
negative (-). The first terminal is the ground. The yellow terminal block cover
through which the wires are fed can be removed for access to the screw terminals.
The cover should be replaced to prevent shock.
•
The M-395-D-01 and the M-396-D-01 units operated from 90 to 150 VAC.
Their maximum current draw is 250 mA at 120 VAC.
•
The M-395-E-01 and the M-396-E-01 units operated from 90 to 220 VAC.
Their maximum current draw is 250 mA at 220 VAC.
•
Alarms A1 and A2: Use of these connectors is optional. Connect alarm
monitoring equipment to these normally open contacts. Please refer to the
description of the Alarm LED on page 2.
•
R1 and R2 AUX: The terminals labeled R1 and R2 are used to connect to
the dry Auxiliary Relay contacts on M-395-B-01, D-01, E-01, M-396-B-01,
D-01, and E-01 models only. The terminals are not operational in the
M-395-A-02 and M-396-A-02 models. The corresponding front panel LED,
labeled AUX, is only present on M-395-B-01, D-01, E-01, M-396-B-01, D-01,
and E-01 models. The AUX LED is lit when the Auxiliary Relay is closed,
and not lit when the Auxiliary Relay is open.
•
CO Line: an RJ-ll jack for connection of the incoming Central Office
telephone line. The incoming line must be a standard loop start line.
•
Ports: four or eight RJ-11 device ports. Port 1 is the highest priority device
port; if a telephone is to use the line it should be connected to Port 1. Ports
2 through 8 are interchangeable and are used to connect other devices
sharing the line.
