Chapter 7: Daisy-chain Operation
If you are installing the SLSS, please return to Where To Start in Chapter 1 after
reading this chapter.
Daisy-chaining is linking a series of SLSS units together through Port 1. In this
type of operation, the SLSS units and the Polling Controller work together to route
calls.
If you are daisy-chaining the M-395-A, B, D, or E, four-port models, up to four
SLSS units can be daisy-chained; however, if you are using the M-396-A, B, D, or
E, eight-port models, a maximum of two SLSS units can be daisy-chained.
Daisy-chained units operate just as they would normally, with one exception: Port
1 of the first SLSS is always used to connect to the next SLSS through its CO Line
port. The last SLSS in the chain can use Port 1 to connect to an emergency
telephone. Other ports can be used to connect any other device that would
normally be used with a SLSS (e.g., modems, fax machines, etc.).
