
Chapter 6: Standalone SLSS Operation and Features
If you are installing the SLSS, please return to Where To Start in Chapter 1 after
reading this chapter.
Although Teltone strongly recommends using the Polling Controller, the SLSS
can be used alone, as a standalone unit.
To use the SLSS in this application, you must program the modem dialing string
to direct calls to assigned ports. (For example, in Figure 6, modem calls to the
Fault Recorder would be sent to Port 3 and fax calls to Port 4. Fax calls are routed
by the Calling or CNG tone.)

If a Polling Controller will ever be used with the SLSS, the transfer
codes from the Polling Controller must be changed to match the ports listed in
Table 2. (See command
