6325 Edge Node
3 Reference Information
Protection
SNC/I and SNC/N protection schemes are available at all STM-n levels.
All protection mechanisms are straightforward and flexible with 1+1 protec-
tion, i.e. with one protection path for each working path. The protection is ap-
plicable to individual VC-12, VC-3 or VC-4 paths. Both revertive and non-re-
vertive protection operations are supported.
Synchronization sources
The source for the internal timing reference T0 is derived among:
• STM-1/4/16 inputs (T1 references)
• 2.048 Mbit/s Tributary inputs (T2 references), freely selectable
• One external 2.048 MHz reference timing source (T3 reference).
The maximum number of sources are T1=4, T2=1 and T3=1.
Management Interface
types
Management/supervision of the Tellabs 6325 node is possible via three types
of interfaces:
• Craft Terminal interface
• Ethernet interface
• Embedded Communications Channel (ECC) of STM-1/4/16 line.
The ECC may be transferred in DCCR or DCCM bytes of the STM-1/4/16
line overhead or in selectable VC-12.
Management software
The Tellabs 6325 node can be managed by the Tellabs 6300 manager and the
Tellabs 8000 manager.
The purpose of the management software is to monitor and control the behav-
ior of the Tellabs 6325 node and the associated transport signals and to man-
age software downloading and upgrading. Proper installation of embedded
software is required to enable the unit to operate.
For detailed description of the mentioned management software please refer
to the respective user manuals
Fans
The Tellabs 6325 node is cooled by a fan module. The module contains three
fans running simultaneously.
Fan speed is controlled by a temperature monitoring circuit on the power sup-
ply. If a fan fails then the other fans will be turned to full speed.
Tachometer signals from the fans are monitored and fan failures are signalled
to the CMCC module.
