Installation
GbE Interface Card Connectors
Two IP interface options are available: the IP Video Gigabit Ethernet Interface (IP Video Interface) and the GigE Video over
IP Interface (GigE Interface). Generically they are referred to as GbE interface cards. The IP Video Interface card must be
installed in slot four. The GigE Interface card must be installed in slot two. (See Figure 1.)
The GbE interface cards provide up to four SFP (Small Format Pluggable) modules, which can be used to facilitate the
Ethernet Optical and copper interconnections. SFP modules are used to facilitate different wavelengths for the Ethernet
Optical interconnection feature. The SFP ports are numbered from one to four (from the top of the card).
The following
fi
gure shows an SFP module and optical port plug. The options tables list the SFP module options available.
The GbE interface cards have been tested with SFP module(s) ordered from Tektronix. SFP modules purchased from a
supplier other than Tektronix are not warranted to work.
WARNING.
To avoid exposure to hazardous laser radiation, use only Class 1 lasers as de
fi
ned in the USA Federal
Regulations CDRH 21 CFR 1040 and IEC/EN 60825/A2:2001.
NOTE.
The optical port plug must be installed in the SFP module when no cable is connected.
MTS4USB Installation
If you ordered option MTS4USB with your MTS415 or MTS430 system, then you received a USB dongle with your instrument.
When installed on your PC, the USB dongle enables various MTS400 Series software options. Which options are enabled
depends on which USB software option you purchased, ES or TS. The ES option enables the MTS4CC software application
(MTS415 systems) or enables the MTS4EA software application (MTS430 systems). The TS option enables the MTS400
Series software applications such as the TSCA, Multiplexer, and Buffer Analyzer.
To install the MTS4USB option, perform the procedure described in
MTS4SA Stand-Alone System Installation
using the
MTS4USB dongle. (See page 6.)
MTS4SA Stand-Alone System Installation
The MTS4SA Stand-alone system makes the MTS400 Series system applications (except the real-time features) available
on a PC. The full speci
fi
cation is given in the
MTS400 Series system Technical Reference
.
If the MTS4EA option (MTS4EA Compressed Video ES Analyzer) was purchased, use the installation procedure provided in
the accompanying user manual (
MTS4EA Compressed Video ES Analyzer User Manual
, 071-1641-XX).
