This procedure is structured in subsections to p e rm it
adjustm ent o f individual sections o f the instrum ent (except
the Power Supply) whenever a complete readjustm ent is
n o t required. For example, if o n ly the V ertical section fails
to meet the Performance Requirements (or has had repairs
made or components replaced), it can be readjusted w ith
little or no effect on o th e r sections o f the instrum ent.
However, if the Power S upply section has undergone
repairs or adjustments th a t change the absolute value o f any
o f the supply voltages, a com plete readjustm ent o f the
instrum ent may be required.
A t the beginning o f each subsection is a list o f all the
front-panel co n tro l settings required to prepare the in stru ­
m ent fo r perform ing Step 1 in th a t subsection. Each
succeeding step w ith in a subsection should then be per­
form ed both in the sequence presented and in its e n tire ty
to ensure th a t co n tro l settings w ill be correct fo r ensuing
steps.
ADJUSTMENT INTERACTION
The use o f Table 5-1 is p a rtic u la rly im p o rta n t if a partial
procedure is perform ed or if a c irc u it requires readjustm ent
due to a com ponent replacement. T o use this table, firs t
fin d the adjustm ent th a t was made (extreme le ft colum n).
Then move to the right, across the row , u n til you come to
a darkened square. From the darkened square, move up
the table to fin d the affected adjustm ent at the heading o f
th a t colum n. Check the accuracy o f this adjustm ent and, if
necessary, perform readjustment.
