8. Cleaning & Maintenance

8.5.2 Disinfection

Procedure

The following procedure should be used to disinfect the outside surfaces of the
instrument.

1. Disconnect the instrument from the mains power supply.

2. Disconnect the instrument from any accessories that are used.

Ensure that you are wearing disposable gloves.

3. Carefully wipe all the outside surfaces of the instrument with a wad of cotton

wool that has been soaked in the disinfecting solution.

4. Ensure that the same disinfection procedure is performed with the plate

carrier.

5. Repeat the disinfection procedure on any accessories which are also being

moved or returned.

6. After the disinfection procedure has been performed, ensure that the

disinfection certificate is completed.

See 8.5 for an example of the disinfection certificate that must be completed
before the instrument is returned to the distributor for servicing.
