The CAN input amp is an amp card for recording data frames on a CAN (Controller
Area Network) bus while recording other analog signals. The recorded data is divided
in units of labels included in each ID, and analog signals and time-series displays are
possible. The label information corresponds to CANdb from Vector Inc. When you
specify a CANdb file at recording time, the CANdb information can be recorded in
the header information file, together with the data file. This card can be used with GX
Navi only, and cannot be used with the LCD remote controller DK-GXLCD.
■
Specifications
Supported CAN protocols:
CAN 2.0A (Standard ID 11 bits)
CAN 2.0B (Extended ID 29 bits)
Recording Baud rate:
1 Mbps to 5 Kbps
Number of recording bus ports: 1 port/card
Supported CAN bus standards: Supported standards include the following CAN
protocols and bus specifications based on CAN:
ISO11898 (Transceiver: 251 Type)
ISO11519 (Transceiver: 1053 Type)
SAE J1939 (Transceiver: 251 Type)
SAE J2284 (Transceiver: 251 Type)
SAE J2411 (Transceiver: 5790 Type)
NMEA-2000 (Transceiver: 251 Type)
Device Net (Transceiver: 251 Type)
CANopen (Transceiver: 2515 Type)
Note, however, that some conversions of physical
quantities might not be supported using GX AFC
CAN (described later).
Recorded data:
Records data frames on a CAN bus only.
CAN at Recording Time
Data monitor:
Hexadecimal display of the data length and data in
ID units at recording time. The display formats can
be a fixed ID display of a specified ID only, or a
scrollable display of all IDs.
Reproduction function:
None. (Post-processing as a recorded-data file.)

▼
Slots for the CAN Card:
Install the CAN card in a slot before other ana-
log input amps: for example, install in SLOT1
or SLOT2. If you are using an expansion unit,
do not install the CAN card in the expansion
unit.
▼
Cable Connections to the CAN Bus:
If you connect the GX-1 CAN card's transceiv-
er cable while the CAN bus line is active, an
error frame might be issued.
▼
Connection is possible while both a standard ID
and an extended ID exist on the bus. For
recording, however, select either a standard ID
or an extended ID and then record.
▼
The Baud rate can be selected from within the
range calculated by the expression described
later. (Page 4-46)
▼
The GX-1 recognizes the CAN input amp as an
A/B 2-channel amp. You can install a maxi-
mum of 2 CAN input amps.
▼
Differences in physical layers are supported by
changing the optional transceiver inserted
between the bus and the amp.
▼
As recording media, the CAN input amp sup-
ports real-time recording to memory, AIT, and
PCs; but does not support MO disks or PC
cards.
▼
With GX Navi, a CAN card can output wave-
form data; however, this data is packet data
replaced by waveforms, and there is no analysis
display function per label.
