Introduction

 

Thank you for purchasing the TEAC 52X speed CD-ROM drive. This product is 
designed to provide maximum CD-ROM playback performance, enjoyment and ease 
of use. Refer to Recommended System Requirements to ensure the drive’s proper 
52X maximum performance.

The TEAC 52X speed CD-ROM drive can read certain data up to 52 times faster than 
conventional speed CD-ROMs. It also plays lower speed titles at their respective 
speeds. It is easy to operate, dust-proof, and features a convenient power tray for disk 
loading.

 

Tools You May Need

 

Depending on the design of your computer, you may need a flat-blade (—) 
screwdriver, a Phillips (+) screwdriver, and/or a pair of needle-nosed pliers to 
complete the installation of the CD-ROM drive.

 

Recommended System Requirements

 

 

IBM PC-compatible computer, Pentium® 133 MHz or higher

 

 

Intel Triton or compatible chip set with PIO mode 4 or UDMA mode 2 settings

 

 

8MB of RAM minimum

 

 

Available half-height drive bay

 

 

Standard or enhanced IDE/ATAPI adapter card or a motherboard with an avail-
able IDE/ATAPI interface connector

 

 

Windows 98SE/Me/2000/NT 4.0/XP

 

Drive Orientation

 

Install the TEAC 52X CD-ROM drive into your computer either horizontally or 
vertically. For a horizontal orientation, install the drive so that the eject button is 
located on the right side of the unit. See the figure below. For a vertical orientation, 
you can install the drive in either direction (i.e., with the headphone jack or the eject 
button near the top).
