Connection via Push-Pull interface of the power source
Using the Push-Pull interface of the power source is a high-tech solution for connecting the Push-Pull torch to
the power source. This is available as an optional extra for many models. When ordering the option, please
ensure that the control electronics allow the motor characteristics to be adjusted, or that a pre-programmed
characteristic curve for TBi PP-TX Push-Pull torches is included.
Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions for programming and wiring this interface. The torch control cable
can be configured using the following diagrams.
Important note!
The following conditions must be met to connect the TBi PP-TX welding torch to the Push-
Pull interface:
1. Supply voltage for the Push-Pull motor max. 42 V DC
2. The supply voltage of the Push-Pull motor must reach at least 24V DC at maximum
wire speed
3. The supply current for the Push-Pull motor must be limited to max. 1.5 A.
Please note the operating instructions of the welding machine manufacturer. If in doubt,
please contact your welding machine retailer or manufacturer.
If the conditions listed are not met, please choose another connection type!
Attention!
A direct connection to the voltage source without TBi control board or the non-fulfilment of
the aforementioned conditions can lead to operational faults, increase wear and cause
damage to the torch and to the power source.
3.4.1.3 Connection via TBi Syntronic
The TBi Syntronic can be used as an alternative to the Push-Pull interface of the power source manufacturer.
The Syntronic is an independent motor control unit that allows the characteristics curve between the main drive
unit and Push-Pull drive to be calibrated accurately. The main feed unit is not influenced by the Syntronic, so
that even complex regulated systems are not impaired and operate at full capacity even with the Push-Pull
torch.
Please follow the separate instructions for connecting the TBi Syntronic. The torch control cable can be
connected using the following diagrams.
3.4.2 Control cable interface between torch and power source
A suitable plug connector should be used to easily connect the Push-Pull torch to the power source. Your power
source may already be equipped with a free plug connector, e.g. a connector socket for a remote control, which
can be used for this purpose. First please check that all necessary cables can be connected to this plug
connector.
Depending on the electrical connection, you need a plug connector with 2 - 10 pins. Please note the diagrams in
the next section.
If no suitable plug connector is available, we recommend retrofitting. Suitable plug connectors are available from
the wide range of accessories offered by TBi.
The torch control cable is not equipped with a connector ex factory. Please select a plug that suits your power
source interface.
