10: Insert the adjuster screw bracket into the slots on the front of the
adjustor brackets.
11: Install the upper adjuster bracket/bearing assembly.
12: Place the adjustor lock brackets onto the side of the adjustor
brackets and place the 2 housing side covers into the slots in the
lower housing plate.
13:
Install the 3 sets of adjustor hardware. DO NOT tighten at this time.
14: Install the upper housing plate, torque hardware to torque listed in
the Hardware Torque table at the end of this section.
15: Remove the universal joint pinch bolt and install the column
assembly onto the gear box input shaft. Install and torque the
universal joint pinch bolt to torque listed in the Hardware Torque
table at the end of this section.
16: Install the column pivot hardware. Tighten the pivot hardware until
the split lock washer has collapsed (not torqued) and install jam
nuts. DO NOT allow the pivot bolt to rotate while tightening the jam
nuts. Check that the column still moves easily but does not move
by itself.
17: Install the locking handle bushing and locking handle.
Note: The orientation of the handle is adjustable by pulling the handle out and rotating to desired position.
18: Push steering shaft collar down against the upper bushing and tighten the set screw. The washer should still
be able to spin freely.
19: Install the column bellows over the large washer on bottom and upper washer on the shaft.
20: Install the covers over the universal joint.
21: Adjust steering chain tension.
22:
Install foam washer and steering wheel. Torque steering nut to torque listed in the Hardware Torque table at
the end of this section.
Notes:
1: Use only high strength woodruff key, see parts list.
2: Use only high strength #40 chain, see parts list.
DO NOT use standard #40 chains, master link, or woodruff key.
The components used are special hardened material. Use of
incorrect parts may result in failure of steering causing severe
bodily injury and/or property damage.
