ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
(ABS) (if equipped)
ABS regulates brake pres-
sure in such a way that the
wheels do not lock when
you brake. This allows you to continue
steering the vehicle when braking.
The ABS warning lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up when the ignition is
switched on. It goes off after 2-3 seconds
if system is healthy.
While Braking
In an emergency situation take your
•
foot off the accelerator and press the
brake pedal fully. This allows the ABS
to regulate braking for you and have
steering control along with maximum
possible braking.
When ABS is active driver will feel
•
brake pedal pulsating and very low
motor (ABS) activation noise from en-
gine compartment which is nor-mal
during ABS braking.
WARNING
If ABS is faulty, the wheels could
•
lock when braking. The steer ability
and braking characteristics may be
severely impaired. There is an in-
creased danger of skidding and ac-
cidents.
Drive on carefully. Have ABS
•
checked immediately at the TATA
MOTORS Authorized Service Cen-
tre as soon as possible.
WARNING
On certain surfaces, such as gravel
•
or firm ground covered by snow, the
standard ABS system may have the
effect of increasing the stopping dis-
tance, but ABS will still offer the ad-
vantage of helping you to maintain
directional control of vehicle.
However, remember that ABS will
•
not compensate for bad road or
weather conditions or poor driver
judgment. Drive within safety mar-
gin taking into consideration prevail
ing weather and traffic conditions.
