Rear security seal
In circumstances where a rear security seal is fitted to the Tachograph, normally where the speed
is being taken from the Tachograph, this must be refitted and resealed. Resealing can only be
performed by a calibration station. The seal is not required by law in the UK if the speed is being
taken from a separate source.
UK after-market tachographs are supplied by default without a seal.
A secondary seal box can be used if the installer wishes to use the Tachosys plug and play cable
and make tamperproof the A connection.
In Denmark and Spain the security seal is required by law.
Tip If you wish to check whether the manufacturers RED plug is active and potentially using the
Tachograph for termination take their RED PLUG and place a Voltmeter between GROUND and PIN
5 with the ignition ON and you should see a reading of up to 3 Volts if the CAN is active. In this case
we would recommend that you use our termination plug.
