Source selection
The amplifier can be used to record from one source
(recording source) while you listen to the same source or
any other source (listening source).
. . .
Selecting the listening source
(behind the flap,
PA 1530 R
only)
To select one of the signal sources as the listening
source, push the corresponding button briefly.
When the unit is switched off, the amplifier can be
switched on by pushing a source button briefly. At the
same time this action selects the associated source
device for listening.
Notes:
The LEDs above the source buttons indicate which
source you are currently listening to. If an MM or MC
phono module is present,
AUX 2
is the phono input.
(
PA 1530 R
only)
Since the
AUX 3
input sockets and the
button
are located behind the flap, the LEDs above the
and
buttons glow when
AUX 3
is selected.
Selecting the recording source
Pressing the
button briefly causes one of the
LEDs above the source buttons to light up to indicate the
signal source from which it is currently possible to
record. When you release the button again, the LED for
the current listening source glows.
To switch to a different recording source you must first
hold the
button pressed in, then select your
recording source by pressing a source button. The
corresponding LED glows until you release the
button.
The recording source signal is available at the
TAPE
OUT
output sockets.
If you wish to
monitor
the tape recording, select the
recording unit (
TAPE
) as listening source while the
recording is taking place.
Note:
A recorder cannot record from itself, as this would form a
feedback loop.
Note (PA 1530 R
only
):
Since the
AUX 3
input sockets and the
button
are located behind the flap, the LEDs above the
and
buttons glow when
AUX 3
is selected.
Tone control functions
The amplifier is equipped with a volume-dependent tone
control (
LOUDNESS
) circuit, which compensates for the
frequency-dependent sensitivity of the human ear at very
low volume levels, due to the characteristics of aural
physiology.
Pressing the
button switches the loudness circuit
on and off.
The red LED above the button glows when
LOUDN
is
switched on.
The
FLAT
function by-passes the tone control section of
the amplifier and therefore
disables the tone controls
.
The frequency response is then absolutely linear.
The
FLAT
mode is switched on and off by pressing the
button.
The red LED above the button glows when
FLAT
mode
is switched on.
Notes:
In
FLAT
mode the
/
controls have no
effect.
The
LOUDNESS
function is also available in
FLAT
mode.
*) Note:
If the system includes a
surround decoder, the
P 1230 R
/
PA 1230 R
/
PA 1530 R
does not respond
when you press the
/
button in
surround mode. Instead the signal is passed to the
decoder, which carries out the appropriate functions
(if present).
Recessed controls
/
/
In normal use the knobs for tone and balance are
recessed into the front panel. If you press any of the
knobs, it projects from the front panel and can then
easily be rotated. In the centre position the index marker
points up, and you will feel the detent engage.
When the setting is correct, push the knob back into the
front panel, and it will engage in its recessed position
again.
