1E-15 Engine Lubrication System:
Engine Oil Temperature Switch Inspection

Inspect the engine oil temperature switch in the following
procedures:
1) Remove the engine oil temperature switch. Refer to
“Engine Oil Temperature Switch Removal and
Installation (Page 1E-14)”.
2) Check the switch closing or opening temperatures
by testing it at the bench as shown in the figure.
3) Connect the switch (1) to the circuit tester and place
it in oil “A” contained in a pan, which is placed on the
stove.
4) Heat the oil to raise its temperature slowly and read
the column thermometer (2) when the switch closes
or opens. If any abnormality is found, replace the
engine oil temperature switch with a new one.
CAUTION
!
• Take special care when handling the
engine oil temperature switch. Do not
subject it to strong blows or allow it to be
dropped.
• Do not contact the engine oil temperature
switch (1) and the column thermometer (2)
with the pan.

5) Reinstall the engine oil temperature switch. Refer to
“Engine Oil Temperature Switch Removal and
Installation (Page 1E-14)”.
Oil Pressure Regulator Removal and
Installation

Removal
1) Remove the generator cover. Refer to “Generator
Removal and Installation in Section 1J (Page 1J-5)”.
2) Remove the oil pressure regulator (1).
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order of removal. Pay
attention to the following point:
• When installing the oil pressure regulator (1), tighten it
to the specified torque.
Tightening torque
Oil pressure regulator (a): 23 N·m (2.3 kgf-m,
16.5 lb-ft)
