CLUTCH OPTION
Clutches may have been installed on your SUREKAP fully automatic capper or on your
tightener. They can be used on any or all sets of spindles. When adjusted properly, clutches will
stop the spindle and tightening discs from spinning after applying the desired amount of torque
to your cap. This function can benefit you in many ways:
1) Clutches can help decrease the wearing of your tightening discs.
2) Clutches can help prevent the scuffing or marking of caps with a sensitive surface.
3) Clutches can help prevent the over tightening of caps on your containers.
4) The main benefit of having clutches on your machine is that they can help to achieve a
more consistent torque on every cap.
Adjust the mechanical clutches, with the machine turned off, by turning the knurled ring (with
your fingers) clockwise to increase torque, counter clockwise to decrease torque. A small
adjustment makes a big difference in performance. When turning the knurled ring, you can feel
it “click”. Count the “clicks” so you can set each side equally.
If equipped with pneumatic clutches, they can be adjusted at any time by increasing or
decreasing the PSI on the clutch air regulator.
