After removing the plastic cap, use

your thumb and the index fi nger
to hold the CPU at the north and
south center edges.
Align the CPU key (the semi-circle

cutout) with the socket key (the
notch below the gold color dot on
the side of the socket).
Once the CPU and the socket are

aligned, carefully lower the CPU
straight down into the socket.
Do not rub the CPU against the
surface of the socket or its pins to
avoid damaging the CPU or the
socket.
With the CPU in the socket, in-

spect the four corners of the CPU
to make sure that it sits level and
is properly installed.
Once the CPU is securely seated
5.
in the socket, lower the CPU load
plate to the socket.
Use your thumb to gently push the

socket clip down to the clip lock.
Repeat for the CPU2 socket for a
7.
dual-processor confi guration.
Important
! Please save the plastic
cap. The serverboard must be shipped
with the plastic cap properly installed to
protect the CPU socket pins. Shipment
without the plastic cap properly installed
may cause damage to the socket pins.
