SUPERSERVER 2027R-WRF USER'S MANUAL

6-5 Checking

Air

Flow

Checking the Server's Air Flow

1.  Make sure there are no objects to obstruct air

fl

ow in and out of the server. In

addition, if you are using a front bezel, make sure the bezel's

fi

 lter is replaced

periodically.

2.  Do not operate the server without drives or drive trays in the drive bays. Use

only recommended server parts.

3.  Make sure no wires or foreign objects obstruct air

fl

 ow through the chassis.

Pull all excess cabling out of the air

fl

ow path or use shorter cables.

The control panel LEDs inform you of system status. See “Chapter 3: System
Interface” for details on the LEDs and the control panel buttons.

6-6  Drive Bay Installation/Removal

Accessing the Drive Bays

Hard Drives: Because of their hotswap capability, you do not need to access the
inside of the chassis or power down the system to install or replace hard drives.
Proceed to the next section for instructions.

DVD-ROM Drive: For installing/removing a DVD-ROM drive, you will need to gain
access to the inside of the system by removing the top cover of the chassis. Proceed
to the "DVD-ROM Drive Installation" section later in this chapter for instructions.

Note:

Only a "slim" DVD-ROM drive will

fi

 t into the 2027R-WRF.

Hard Drive Installation

The hard drives are mounted in drive carriers to simplify their installation and
removal from the chassis. These carriers also help promote proper air

fl

 ow for the

drive bays. For this reason, even empty carriers without drives installed must remain
in the chassis. The SC213 comes equipped with sixteen hot-swappable hard drives.

Removing Hard Drive Trays from the Chassis (Figure 6-5)

1.  Press the release button on the drive carrier. This extends the drive carrier

handle.

2.  Hold the handle to pull the tray out of the chassis.

Note:

Your operating system must have RAID support to enable the hot-plug

capability of the hard drives.
