Power Failure

When this LED 

fl

 ashes, it indicates a power failure in one of the power supplies.

!

3-4  Drive Carrier LEDs

Your server may use SAS or SATA drives. The use of SAS drives requires an op-
tional SAS controller installed to the system.

Two LEDs are located on the front of each drive carrier.

• 

Green:

 Each drive carrier has a green LED. When illuminated, this green LED 

(on the front of the drive carrier) indicates drive activity. A connection to the 
backplane enables this LED to blink on and off when that particular drive is 
being accessed. 

• 

Red:

 The red LED indicates a drive failure. If one of the drives fails, you should 

also be noti

fi

 ed by your system management software. See Chapter 6 for in-

structions on replacing drives.
