• Electrical circuits with the "Ex i" type of protection can no longer be operated as circuits
with this protection type after being operated with circuits with other types of protection.
• The device is approved for use in gas hazardous areas of Zones 1 and 2 and in safe
areas.
• The device is certified for use in dust hazardous areas of Zones 21 and 22.
• When operated in gas or dust hazardous areas, the device must be installed in an
enclosure which meets the requirements of IEC/EN 60079-0.
• The module may be mounted only on BusRail 9494.
• A distance of 50 mm must be maintained between intrinsically safe and
non-intrinsically safe field circuits.
• Modules with intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe field circuits may be operated
simultaneously on one BusRail. In this case, a distance of 50 mm must be maintained
between the terminals with intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe field circuits
(e.g. partition 220101 or empty space).
• Interconnection of several active intrinsically safe field circuits can result in deviating
safety-related maximum values. This can endanger the intrinsic safety so that
appropriate documentation must be provided.
• The safety-related maximum values of the connected field devices must match the
values of the modules according to the data sheet, operating instructions or
EU Type Examination Certificate and certificates.
Commissioning, maintenance, repair
• Only have commissioning and repairs performed by qualified and authorised persons
(see "Personnel qualification" section).
• Before commissioning, make sure that the device is not damaged.
• Perform only maintenance work described in these operating instructions.
• The safety-related maximum values of the connected field devices must match the
values of the modules according to the data sheet, operating instructions or
EU Type Examination Certificate and certificates.
• Interconnection of several active intrinsically safe field circuits can result in deviating
safety-related maximum values. This can endanger the intrinsic safety so that
appropriate documentation must be provided.
• Modules and plug connectors may be connected and disconnected during operation
in hazardous areas (hot swap and hot plug).
• To avoid electrostatic charging, the modules located in hazardous areas must be
cleaned with a damp cloth only.
