3. Mechanical installation
3.1 Pipe tapping
The pipeline should be prepared for either cold tap or hot tap installations. A cold tap
installation involves drilling a hole into a pipeline that has been depressurised and for
which service has been shutdown. A hot tap installation involves drilling a hole into a
pressurised line without line shutdown and disruption of the process.
The RIM10-600 and RIM10-900 rotor insertion flowmeters can be hot or cold tapped.

The

); it can only be installed and removed with process shutdown because
