5-3-3. Setting/Preparation of the Resolution
Check Chart
For this lens, it is necessary to check the photographic resolving
power with two kinds of focal length (16 mm, 55 mm).
Therefore, please check with the case where the zoom set to the
WIDE end (focal length: 16 mm) and the case where it is set to the
TELE end (focal length: 55 mm).
Equipment and Tools
• Camera (ILCE-7RM2/7M3/7RM3)
• Resolution check chart (ILC)
• Tape measure
• Plane mirror
• Tripod
• 5400K light
• Light stand
• Illuminance meter
Setting Procedure
1. The resolution check chart (ILC) is illuminated from both sides
with a light source and set to 2000 ± 200 lux.
Note 1:
Please make the resolution check chart (ILC) so that
there is no unevenness of light source.

2. Attach the checking lens to the camera, and set the zoom to be
WIDE end (focal length: 16 mm) or TELE end (focal length: 55
mm).
3. Set the shooting distance to about 0.9 m when checking the WIDE
end, and about 2.7 m when checking the TELE end. Adjust the
shooting distance at the position where a chart appears in the
whole screen.

Confi gure the setting of a camera as follows.

4. Place a plane mirror at the center of the chart to check the paral-
lelism between the lens surface and the chart.
5. Adjust the camera position so that the checking lens appears in
the mirror when checking the monitor image of the camera.
Picture Frame Check
1. Select the “Diag. + Square Grid” from the “Grid Line” in the
camera menu items.
2. Confirm that the following standard are satisfied when checking
the monitor image.
•
The chart appears in the whole screen.
•
The patterns in center of chart and the center of grid line
coincide.
