The PetaSite 150-series unit stores, detects, records
and reproduces large amounts of data using cassette
tapes with a DTF digital tape streamer.
The series has models of two types according to
cassette size that can be used: model for L-size
cassettes, which stores a large amount of data and
model for S-size cassettes, with excellent accessibility.
You can choose the appropriate model according to
your purposes. For example, the model for L-size
cassettes can store a large amount of data , so it is
recommended as a backup system, while the model for
S-size cassettes is appropriate for a system that
requires accessibility, such as an HSM or archive.
Cassette transport time is five seconds, and up to 360
cassettes can be exchanged in an hour on average,
which means high-speed access two to six times that of
Sony’s conventional systems. This reduces the start
time for accessing data to 30 seconds for S cassettes
and 1 minutes for L cassettes on average with a
DTF-2.
PetaSite 80-series DMS-B80L/B110S
The PetaSite 80-series can store data of up to 16.2
Tbytes (using an L-size cassette, with a DTF-2) in a
compact unit. Up to four tape drives can be mounted
in the console.
PetaSite 150-series DMS-B150L/B210S/
EX150L/EX210S
The PetaSite 150-series is composed of a DMS-
B150L/B210S basic console and a DMS-EX150L/
EX210S extension console. One or two extension
consoles can be connected to a basic console when a
DMSA-BLT2 extension belt (optional) is used. When
a DMSA-BLT6 extension belt kit (optional) and
DMSA-CBL1 extension cable kit (optional) are used
in combination, three to six extension consoles can be
connected to a basic console. In this case, cassette
transport time is seven seconds, and up to 300
cassettes can be exchanged in an hour on average.
In an extension console, a BetaCam family VTR (5U,
with the SDI-signal output function) for use in
broadcasting stations, production houses, etc. can be
mounted together with a DTF, which enables use of
this series in applications such as video archives.
